A Note from the Founder
“I had always known that the fabric of our clothes mattered, but for a long time, I never looked much further than how something felt or looked.
When I began paying closer attention, I was surprised to discover how much of my wardrobe contained synthetic materials, even pieces I had invested more in. It made me curious about the materials we wear, where they come from and the natural alternatives I knew so little about.
That curiosity took me back to Nepal, my home country. I spent months travelling, exploring natural fibres such as Himalayan nettle and hemp, and learning from the people whose knowledge transforms them into textiles.
I discovered remarkable craftsmanship. But I also saw how difficult it could be for some skilled makers to earn a livelihood that reflected the time and effort behind their work.
Those experiences stayed with me. As my journey continued, I realised I wanted to create something that brought these worlds together.
Beautiful natural materials. Thoughtful design. Traditional skills that deserve recognition. And people whose work deserves to be valued.
Loomaama grew from that belief.
It is still a journey, but one with a purpose I care deeply about.”
