Respect the Memory of Hands
Your Loomaama garment was made with care. Here's how to care for it in return
Natural Fibers Age Beautifully; If You Let Them
Synthetic fabrics are built for quick, repetitive washing. Natural fibers require a gentler touch. When properly maintained, they soften with wear, develop a unique character, and can last for decades.
Loomaama garments are crafted to be worn for years instead of just a single season. A little mindful care guarantees they reach their full, beautiful potential.
The Golden Rules
Hand Wash When Possible
Natural fibers respond best to gentle hand washing. It preserves texture, prevents shrinkage, and extends garment life.
Use Cool Water
Hot water can cause natural fibers to shrink or felt (especially wool). Cool or lukewarm water is safest.
Avoid Harsh Detergents
Use gentle, plant-based soap. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and detergents with synthetic fragrances.
Lay Flat to Dry
Never wring or twist natural fibers. Gently press out excess water and lay flat on a clean towel to dry.
Store Properly
Fold (don't hang) heavy knits. Store in breathable cotton bags, not plastic. Use cedar or lavender to deter moths.
